What is the X-1 Cloud Connect
The X-1 Cloud Connect Modem (X-1CC) allows the total automation of fuel truck operations and fuel tickets. The device is different than the modems normally installed on your TCS 3000, or Liquid Controls iQ equipped fuel trucks. What makes the X-1 Cloud Connect different is that it is not a one-way street. Legacy modems only send out data from the registers. The X-1 Cloud Connect is actually an IoT (Internet of Things) device that contains a cellular module and a customized programming that can send out information from the trucks register AND send information into the register.
This means that fuelers no longer need to use the old T9 style text entry for initials, flight numbers or tail numbers anymore, eliminating typed errors. When you accept a fueling from your X-1 SinglePoint device it automatically adds all the information required (i.e. tail number, initials, flight number) to the register's keypad. Instead, the fueler only has to hit start on the register and begin the fueling.
Which X-1 Cloud Connect version do I have?
There are currently two versions of the X-1 Cloud Connect. The easiest way to identify your version is by the number of lights on your device. Version 1 has 3 different colored LED lights and only one antenna port. Version 2 has 1 LED light and can accept an LTE and a GPS antenna.
How to install your X-1 Cloud Connect
The X-1 Cloud Connect plugs into the cable for your existing modem using the RS-232 Connector found in most fuel trucks. This cable provides the path for data to and from the modem and the register, plus it provides the power for the modem.
To install your modem, locate this cable in your truck's cab. The RS-232 cable will come from your TCS 3000 or LC iQ register usually through a wiring harness that enters the cab of the truck. The location of the cable can vary by truck manufacturer but is normally located between the seats through the back or floor in the cab of the truck.
This is an example of a truck with a Version 1 device installed with an internal antenna.
To install the X-1 Cloud Connect:
Plug the X-1CC device with the serial cable and attach it to a stable surface (you can use metal screws for V1 or high-grade Velcro to secure the modem in the truck). When attaching the cable please be careful with the serial cable screws, they don’t need to be too tight.
Install the antenna outside of the truck (the higher you install the antenna on the truck the better your signal strength will be) and connect your antenna to the coaxial port labeled LTE.
Start the truck, the Green Led should flash for 2 seconds to indicate the power is Ok. Then after 20-30 seconds the LED should turn on and stay for the rest of the operation.
Once you've installed the X-1CC and you have steady "lights on" (See the green LED on the left side of the below photo) you can notify the support team of the truck number with the related X-1CC number which is located on the front of the modem next to the serial number QR code or etched onto the back of the device (Version 2 only).

Warning: If the register was not connected to a modem or the existing modem was inoperative, TCS 3000 registers require a significant period of time to download the ticket history from the register. Fuel truck automation will not work until the register has cleared out the ticket history.
Trouble Shooting your X-1 Cloud Connect
My X-1 Cloud Connect doesn't power up at all (TCS 3000):
This most often means that the RS-232 cable is not supplying power to the modem. If the modem you are replacing had an external power source like a power plug this is almost definitely the case. The X-1 Cloud Connect requires power from the 9 pin on the cable. This is accomplished by connecting that wire to the board inside of the register and will require breaking the meter seal. See the diagram below:
You can contact your local GSE maintenance provider if you need help connecting power.
My X-1 Cloud Connect powers up then shuts down (TCS 3000):
If the truck shows the green LED after installation but does not remain on the register it may require changes to the COMM settings. If this happens, please contact support for help.
