Why Is X-1FBO Asking for Odometer, Driver ID, or Vehicle ID?
If you're seeing prompts for Odometer, Driver ID, or Vehicle ID during a transaction—especially when using a Visa or Mastercard fleet card—you're not alone. These fields are standard requirements for certain open loop fleet cards, even in aviation environments.
What Is a Fleet Card?
A fleet card is a specialized business credit card used to manage fuel and maintenance expenses for a fleet of vehicles—or in this case, aircraft. Some operators use these cards to track expenses by aircraft, crewmember, or trip, often as a carryover from their ground transportation operations.
Why You're Being Asked for This Info
Some operators use open loop fleet cards (Visa or Mastercard-branded) that are configured for traditional vehicle fleets. While these cards work seamlessly for aviation purchases, they still require the same data fields used for vehicles:
Prompt | What It Means | What You Can Enter |
Driver ID | Identifies who made the purchase | Name of a crewmember |
Vehicle ID | Identifies the vehicle or aircraft | Tail number (N# or registration) |
Odometer | Mileage at the time of purchase | Enter 0 (not applicable) |
These fields don’t affect how the transaction is processed, but entering valid data helps the cardholder with expense tracking. If left blank or entered incorrectly, the transaction could be declined or incur additional fees for the cardholder.
Do I Need to Set Anything Up?
No setup is required on your end. X-1FBO and your processor are already configured to support these fleet cards. Just enter information when prompted, using values relevant to your operation.
Tip:
Entering clear, consistent data makes it easier for operators to reconcile their purchases later—and helps avoid unnecessary transaction issues.
